What was their dream?
Everything they said looked good on paper. Now it was time to make the leadership vision a reality in the hearts and minds of everyone throughout the organisation.
If this happened then they knew that there would be a strong core of purpose throughout the organisation that would drive engagement and give them the ability to respond quickly to ever changing market conditions.
What was their nightmare?
The biggest challenge to overcome was the fact that the purpose values and a strategy were all assertions.
The words were being said but everyone was interpreting a different story of what those words meant in practice.
This lack of clarity led to poor internal and external communication which threatened levels of trust.
What action did we help them take?
We started by working with the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team to help them articulate their vision in a way that would put everyone on the same page.
What would the vision look and feel like? Who would be involved? Where would the key interactions take place? When would they happen?
Essentially, we helped them spot, shape and share the story of their purpose.
From there we ran workshops with the team below the ExCom that gave them the skills to have the collaborative conversations that would inspire everyone within the organisation to be co-authors of the vision.

What was the result?
Given that change is a constant the results are ongoing.
What we can say for sure is that there is now a common vocabulary and language within the organisation which means that responses to changing conditions are more agile than they were previously.
